A200 Long exposure night shot.....

Got the Sony A200 and again tried the night shot long exposure.

Just 1 shot taken on Morningside Rd Edinburgh. Little P&P and that's it.

Any comments or advice on shots taken at night would be helpful.

Interesting shot, I like the flare from the lights but the bevel edge is not needed imo it detracts from the rest of the picture.

Night shots of streets look better after it's rained, something we seem to have had a lot of lately.

I agree, I like the flare from the street lights, although I would have cloned out the lens flare as I find it distracting.
I sometimes find with lightstreams that it's worth boosting the luminance of the red channel, as the rear lights aren't as powerful as the headlights.

Re: A200 Long exposure night shot.....

I really like this. It has a nice sense of movement and is really well exposed (to my noob-eye anyway!). The star bursts on the streetlights are nice touch too.

I do agree with Totmato1 though, it would look better if you cloned out the distracting lens flare (you were using the kit lens I take it?). I'm not sure if the framing is my cuppa but that doesn't take away from the actual shot.

Traffic trails are something I've been meaning to try for a while so this has inspired me to give it a go when I get my camera back from my girlfriend.

Keep up the good work

Re: A200 Long exposure night shot.....

Looks good, I like how you must have captured police sirens or something, as well as the flare being distracting I find that border distracting, mainly because its meant to be a bezel but in no way does it bend the street sign or the top left light. I think a bit of gaussian blur on it would do it good

Really like this, the movement is great, agree about the boarder though.
