Panasonic Lumix Compacts

Hi

As many on here, I am looking for a top end compact camera, and after years of Canon Ixus's I fancy a change!

I was looking at the Fuji F100fd, but I am not sure if the banding is still a problem? I have therefore been looking at the Panasonic Lumix FX150 and FX500, although I am not sure which is better. The 150 seems to have a bigger CCD, which I thought was important to avoid the dreaded noise issues, but it is cheaper!

Any clues why? Any other ideas really welcolme - thank you.

Hi
We have a panasonic lumix tz3 (tz5 being the newer, faster version) and it is a great camera. It attracts admiring comments about the big (10x) zoom and big, bright LCD. The picture quality is also spot on. Will definitely be buying in the lumix tz line when we upgrade. It's the best compact camera I have seen (in my opinion, personally).

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Is this a slightly larger camera than the FX series, as I was hoping to have a nice small camera? Would the picture quality be expected to be better on the tz than the FX series - lower noise?

Thanks again

The TZ5 is not really the small camera i think your after, i have one and its certainly bigger than a shirt pocket camera, after all that 10X zoom lens has to fit somewhere, it will however fit very well in your pocket or small bag, i'm not really aware of the pic quality between the two although i get what i consider to be very good pics with my TZ5 in good light and low iso settings.

Mark.
