Tamron Macro - is 'Di' worth it?

Hi all,

I have a Sony A200 and am looking to get a macro lens - probably the Tamron 90mm. However, I can get the original version (72E?) second hand far cheaper than the new 'Di' version (272E) and save approx £80-100 (second hand in v.good condition seem to sell on ebay for approx 150)

The Di version claims to stop the sensor reflections causing issues with the images but I've not heard anything but good spoken about the earlier lenses.

So - is the 'Di' worth it, have any of you got the older version and have issues - and is 150 or so a good price to pay 2nd hand.

Thanks,

O.

Re: Tamron Macro - is 'Di' worth it?

I have the 72B version (non Di, non digital, infact non everything).
Mine is the Adaptall 2 version and manual focus only.

I have no reason to change it, the pics I get are superb and AF on a macro lens is really not that important.

So anyway, to answer your question .. no, I don't think its important at all.

Re: Tamron Macro - is 'Di' worth it?

Hi Pathway.....I have also aquired the Non-DI version of this lens and would also like to know the answer to this question. I have not yet used this lens (mint condition), so cannot comment on it's capabilities and PQ.
Anyone ??

Cheers

Terry

I would suggest your answer lies on the Dyxum.com lens forum where the OP has also posted and replies have been made.
