A few good offers, Tripod, Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW and a filler!

Hi,

I have posted this in the bargains section as well but figure not as many will see it over there.

So I was after a tripod anyway, a fairly decent one without spending too much....and I needed a bigger bag that could fit more than one lens in.

I came across the following:

Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW for £29.99
Make sure you use promo code "LOWEPRO15"
Half Price VELBON CX-640 Tripod inc FREE Case for £19.99

Now this came to £49.98, but if you spend £50.00 its Free PNP with the "FPANDP" promo code

So I added a nice little filler, another offer

LENSPEN Mini Pro II LCD Lenspen Half price at £3.99

Total for the lot is £53.97....the cheapest for the bag I can see is £45.

Hope this helps some people, of course you can get one of them offers and pick up in store if you don't want to spend £50 for free PNP or spend £7.99 on PNP which is still decent for the bag alone.

Plus theres plenty more you can spend your money on.

Granty

Cheers for this, I ordered the bag from there on Saturday, but forgot about the free P&P code.
I will give them a quick call to see if I can cancel the first order and do this instead.

Managed to change my order, had to order 2 lens pens to get it over £50.

Re: A few good offers, Tripod, Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW and a filler!

Thanks for the link, my local LCE quoted me £84 for this bag today, you saved me a packet.

Hope its not going to be overkill for my little Panasonic G1 and twin lens kit though.

It was something to do with the VAT reduction, the bag, tripod and one pen came to less than £50.00

I ordered the bag on its own and changed the postage option to recorded mail which was about £4. It does say small, light items so i'll see what happens. Kept adding a flash and taking it out again.......must resist.

I'm so tight

Mine turned up today and is going strait back, its far bigger then the quoted 30cm on Jacobs website and TBH my Panasonic G1 is lost inside it, the search continues.

Would you not be best off trying the 100 model rather than the 200?

Re: A few good offers, Tripod, Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW and a filler!

I ordered the Slingshot backpack & two CX-640 tripods (one is going to be a Xmas present) ...they were delivered today.

When I got home, I opened the box ...aaaargh, only one tripod inside

Not sure how I'm going to prove this one...my word against their's I guess. My only hope is the photo I've taken of the shipping box which I've emailed them ...in my opinion, I don't think there'd even have been enough room for to fit *two* tripods & the backpack inside the shipping carton.

Re: A few good offers, Tripod, Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW and a filler!

I was reading as I'm looking for a new bag. I'd though I was onto a winner but if they cant even send out the right gear and its a hassle to send stuff back....well I'll give it a miss.

By the way what the bag like to use? I'm looking at the slingshot 200 or a fastpack 250.
I would like to have fast access to my gear, but i've read a few reviews where people say the slingshot is a good idea but its difficult to change lenses

I bought the SS 200 and looking at the Lowepro website, it looks like they open in very similar ways. The SS 200 when you slide it round to the front, there are straps which stop the flap from opening fully, this is to keep the lenses from falling out. So yes to change lenses you would need to open the flap fully. Although you might be able to adjust the internal dividers, so that you could get to a lens either side of the camera. I will try this on my one later on, although it is an Xmas pressie so I will have to wait for the OH to go out.

You can adjust the internal layout in lots of ways, one of which would make the camera and another 2 lenses accessible without fully opening the flap.

That really is harsh, you can tell theres not enough room really. They must be used to everyone ordering 1 of the bags and 1 tripod, sure there isnt a lens pen in there? Let us know how it goes.

I have read reviews the slingshot is brilliant for changing lenses on the go, I have personally used mine yet but i've put everything in. Seems good. At the end of the day, whats it going to take to bend down and change the lens?

Just to give some closure here...full credit to Jacobs, they sent the 'missing' tripod out putting it down to picking error.

Re: A few good offers, Tripod, Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW and a filler!

I went to Jacobs in town, since they have a local shop to me, and bought the slingshot 200 bag in the sale for £29.99, but have gotten back home to find there is no all weather shroud thing which it says is included.

Can anyone point out for me whether it is actually included or not? Mine didn't come in a plastic covering like shown in the picture above, but guess that's because it was from the actual shop, and so it'd been taken out... I doubt it's really that much of an added extra, but feel as though I've been cheated somehow lol

Now that you mention it...there doesn't appear to be one in mine (unless it's tucked away in a James Bondesque invisible pocket that I haven't found yet?!) Oh dear...something else to have a scrap with them about!

Any other Slingshot 200 owners care to comment whether it's an optional extra or if not, where the raincover is normally found straight out the bag?!!!

Sussed it!

At the back of the rucksack (& at the very bottom edge), there is indeed a James Bond-esque velcro slot that when you rip it open reveals a tuckaway raincover!

A-ha, I see now. I did notice a velcro part earlier when having a play, but with the in-laws and the missus all having a moan about this that and the other, I missed it...

Many thanks for passing on the advice. Now I just need to put it back away

Can anyone point out for me whether it is actually included or not? Mine didn't come in a plastic covering like shown in the picture above, but guess that's because it was from the actual shop, and so it'd been taken out... I doubt it's really that much of an added extra, but feel as though I've been cheated somehow lol

Any other Slingshot 200 owners care to comment whether it's an optional extra or if not, where the raincover is normally found straight out the bag?!!!

At the back of the rucksack (& at the very bottom edge), there is indeed a James Bond-esque velcro slot that when you rip it open reveals a tuckaway raincover!

Many thanks for passing on the advice. Now I just need to put it back away

Sorry guys, I was gonna post and let you know where it was but perhaps unsurprisingly you found it pretty quick.
