A bit of evening flash....

Evening all.

Went out and shot some late evening street portrait with a friend to test some ideas. Usual things here in that I applied a much higher ISO to bring balance to the background, something I learnt watching a Nikon CLS demo. A couple not quite as bright as others but intentionally stopped down to bring the back drop down. These are OK. To be honest, to me, flash has/is and continues to be the hardest thing I have had to learn and whilst it is getting there, it continues to exasperate me from time to time. Oddly enough I now own an Su-800 but did not use it as just grabbed a few frames on a recce tonight. These were shot on my 24-70 and how I wanted my 70-200 back...

Pushed through LR2 with a couple of custom presets and a couple of generic presets. On the colour shots I upped the green hue and lowered the green contrast to give a better skin tone. One flash used.

Re: A bit of evening flash....

Great shots BTW, love the bokeh and the crops. Nice job on balancing the subject and background.

Hi mate, only one flash in manual on the D3 so not really strobist as such, more a case of managing high iso to balance the background is all.

Thanks for the comment by the way.
