D40 write speeds

Hello,
I've had a scout about on here and googled it but I can't really find an answer to my query...

I'll be taking action shots with my D40, probably in RAW(NEF)+JPEG basic file settings, will the speed of memory card affect the continous frame rate?

I usually use Sandisk Ultra II cards (my most recent one says 15Mb/s on it) will the speed of the card be the determining factor in how many shots I can fire off at 2.5fps or will it be the camera memory buffer, or both??

I've read reports of 6 shots at 2.5fps then the rest at 1.7fps shooting in RAW+JPEG but the article was from when the D40 first came out and I'm aware that SD card technology has progressed alot since then.

I don't mind trading up to the Extreme III cards if need be, but not if I'm going to get little improvement from them esp when the Ultra II are so cheap.

I would try and figure it out myself but I'm not too sure how??

Thanks

Joe

PS I am, for some reason, brand loyal to Sandisk, don't know why????
