Sony A100 Control Wheel Problem

Hi, does anyone else experience a similar problem with their A100s control wheel?

Sometimes when I use it to change the aperture/shutter speed it will change erratically, i.e., jump to a completely different settings, not the next f-stop/shutter speed up or down. It's very annoying.

I read on another forum of a solution where someone sprayed solvent contact cleaner into the control wheel area but I can't find this thread any more. I'm not sure I want to give that a try without knowing the brand name of something that has worked.

Has anyone tried this, or have another solution to the problem?

Re: Sony A100 Control Wheel Problem

I've just had a play with mine and it would seem that there is a problem with yours as my A100 doesn't jump at all.

You could try solvent based cleaning fluid but make sure that the battery is removed and all the solvent has evaporated before replacing the battery.

How long have you had the A100? Just a thought cos it may still be under warranty.

Thanks for trying your alpha. I've had it for a year and a half so it's no longer in warranty. Any idea where I get hold of some solvent based cleaning fluid?

Any supermarket, DIY shop should do it, just try it first to make sure it all evaporates.
