TO ND 110 users

Post TO ND 110 users

I use a Nikon D40 and can get up to 30 second exposures, would this filter create usable images with this exposure?

Doesn't the D40 do "bulb" where the shutter is held for as long as the button is pressed?

But even at 30 secs, yes it would be possible to use a ND110, depended on ambient light.

Do a search on Flickr: Search and check the properties to see the shutter speeds used.

Agreed - you should be able to use Bulb - but maybe you need a cable release to hold the shutter open without jolting the camera.

I'd say 30 secs would be a bit short for an ND110 unless you've got a v.wide aperture and the ISO turned up. I'm usually on 2 mins with a medium aperture on a sunny day.

Yes it can do bulb but it would cause too much shake i think.
I'll have a look on flickr.
Thanks for the replies. I'll probably look at a less dense filter as an option.

I find it can vary, generally yep you'll be looking at >30sec but when it is quite bright in the afternoon you don't need to use a very long exposure time with the ND110

When the sun is out when it is at its strongest (say between 12-3pm), f/11 & ISO-200 usually only needs an exposure time of 10-15 seconds
