A little moth closeup

Nice pics Mike.

This is definitely a butterfly. You can tell by the feelers, butterflies have thin ones, moths have feathery ones. It is a member of the Lycaenidae family, I think.

Re: A little moth closeup

Cheers for the info, have renamed all my files (again).

Decided this may be a better crop than the first.

Impressive shots

How close do you get? I am always wary that I am enough of a dunce to one day damage my lens

Thanks, I actually think the last crop is my best photo in the 6 months or so that I have had a DSLR.
For something like a butterfly that is easily scared off I normally take a series of shots, gradually moving closer until they fly off.
I was lucky with this one as it kept going but then returned to the same flower so I could alter my angle each time.
These were taken from about a metre away with a 90mm macro lens and then cropped but he was a tiny little thing to start with (which is why I thought John was correct with his moth identification).
