I broke my wife's camera, please can you recommend a new digital one?

I'm flying to the USA so wondered what I could pick up there. She had a panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 and was very happy with that. Anything similar to that or a bit better please???

Much appreciated, as I'm in the dog house...
