Defensive Castle

I took this photograph today of Carrickfergus Castle. It was a lovely sharp day between the odd shower. I enjoyed taking photographs.
Post processing consisted of overlaying a B&W conversion over the colour one for contrast. A slight crop. Contrast & saturation boost. Sharpen. And probably a few other things that I can't remember.

C&C appreciated.

Re: Defensive Castle

That's a peachy shot of the castle. I used to go there often as a kid. So sharp too. Nice choice of aperture! But I think f/8 has actually given you too much DOF in this shot.
Could even have gone for a wider aperture I think, but it is nice, viewed large, to be able to see the individual electric overhead cables about a mile or further in the distance. Incredible detail!

Re: Defensive Castle

Beauty! At least that's what I thought at first......

and then I viewed the large version on Flickr - what a great shame that graffitti is there!!! *&*&$ing vandals!!!

Can't the local council arrange some sort of clean up operation?

It's not your fault and I think you did the right thing in leaving it in (as opposed to erasing it in PS). It stands up as a good sign of the times I guess.

After that little rant I'd just like to say I like your picture.

Cheers

Cheers for the aperture tip, Dave.

To be honest I didn't really notice the graffiti.
Ta for the positive feedback.

Re: Defensive Castle

Very nice indeed. I like portrait style landscapes and this is a good example. In B&W it looks like a picture of a bygone age which I also like (there's a "but" coming).

But - what a shame about the contrail in the sky - spoils the historic look of the picture. And to be REALLY fussy could you crop slightly tighter to get rid of the houses either side altogether?

I'm only being fussy because I think this is a great picture and could be brill with a little more TLC

Ryan
