I can't seem to turn mine off when using any of the manual settings on my nikon d50(A,s,m or P)
But it only come on when in a low light situation...

I am going to do some gig photography next week and want it off as i think it may annoy the band.
Is a bit of gaffer over it the option..

That's the AF Assist lamp, not red-eye reduction.

My D50 doesnt have a number 7 in the setup?

Sort scanned the full manual till I found out how to bring up the other 8 option.
