What's The Best Compact Money Can Buy?

Having ruled out the Canon G9 due to size, I was pretty sure I was going to buy a Panasonic LX3 but I really don't think I can live with the rather pathetic 2.5 zoom. As far as I can tell my next best option is the Panasonic TZ5 which takes pretty high quality pics and has a 10x Zoom. Video is fairly important to me too. Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Ahoy!

2 of your choices are in this thread . . . 3 are not. See my post.

I can't honestly think of anything else at the top of the pocket camera range with manual control, external flash mount and decent optical zoom. Doesn't apply to all I grant you, and they do differ budget wise. The Sony H50 is a prosumer model.

Thanks for the reply, I went with the TZ5 and am very happy with it picture wise. The speaker/Mic are rubbish though. You cant hear the speaker and the mic is placed where you naturaly put your fingures when holding the camera.

If your talking about point and shoot camera's, i would choose the new Canon 14.7MP camera, its on future shop/ bestbuy.ca and/or .com for $429.99-$499.99. I recommend this Camera because it shoots in RAW and Jpeg formates, plus with a 14Mp+ sensor, it's Awesome VALUE!
