50D release date

RGB tech have just informed me that they expect stock of the 50D this Friday or early next week.

That's how I felt when the D300 came out... am still resisting ok, but the lure of the shiny is strong!

are RGB-direct a decent company? they seem to have the 50D on at much less than the other shops, who all seem to be sticking to RRP, apart from perhaps throwing in a few accessories to try and sweeten it up.

I spoke to digital depot yesterday who have a "deal match" policy on their website regarding the 50D. When I told them RGB's price they said they won't price match saying they "don't know where they get their stock from" and suggesting the whole company was pretty poor.

I don't know how true this is though. They have their own store and I can't see any reason why their stock should be any different from anyone elses.

I suspect it was a case of Digital Depot not wanting to let the camera's go for such a "low" (read: reasonable) price.
