The bit I don't understand is this.

The camera’s automatic focus confirmation also remains available to an unlimited extent with these manual focus lenses.

Are these manual focus lens?

I'm pretty sure they are manual focus lenses, but will give 'focus confirmation' when in focus.

The one I have is the Sony version and branded, and has autofocus.
(Sony SAL-85F14Z - 85mm F1.4 ZA Carl Zeiss Planar T* lens)

They are very similar (in name), but also very different! (seem to have different number of elements and groups)
