A few from the Square Mile

I had to spend some time at work yesterday, and popped out afterwards with the camera.

I decided to stick with one only lens (55-200) for a bit of a challenge, and also looked around me for things/views I wouldn't normally take notice of.

Not sure about a one or two of these (see below), so comments & criticism welcome.

Old & New

Edge - blown the bottom left corner quite a bit - PP isn't my strong point, so would be interested to hear how/if I can recover that ?

Bendy

Year 2000 - Is this a bit too central in the frame ? Should I have placed this either to one side or the other ?

British Linen

Thanks for looking, and there are a few others on flickr.

Re: A few from the Square Mile

Edge is a corker. Personally I wouldn't worry about the blown out corner, IMO it adds to the tonal range.
Bendy is also a good 'un. You could maybe try boosting the saturation a little to make the most of the yellow lines in the road which might help break up the rather large expanse of grey.
Old and new has some lovely blues that may benefit from a crop a la Edge to just leave New.

Yep the edge one is ok as the top right is dark and balances it out somewhat.
Nice

Re: A few from the Square Mile

Thanks guys.

Just been playing around with these as suggested - boosting the saturation of Bendy really does bring out the yellow on the road - it also seems to bring out more 'warmth' in the buildings at the back, but I quite like that.

Also tried cropping Old & New with just New in it, and the overall shape is like a lengthways pano, but again, it looks good.

Many thanks for the ideas.

Must admit, really like Edge myself, and it was my wife's pick from the lot as well..

Re: A few from the Square Mile

I like the British Linen one, just had a play with it in Photoshop boosting the saturation etc and adding a border. It's here if you fancy looking.

Did you lower the saturation of the shot or was it taken as is?

Nice work on Edge and Old & New too

Re: A few from the Square Mile

Just had a look at Aperture to see what I did to that one, and it looks like I just lifted the contrast, exposure and WB a bit - didn't touch the saturation.

Had a look at your version, and that looks pretty good - colours have more punch. I'll have a play myself.
