London's finest air conditioning vents...

Had to work today, and decided to take the camera with me, as I'd seen some shots on Flickr of a certain structure that caught my eye - just off Paternoster Square\St Pauls there are a pair of sculptures that actually serve as air vents for an underground electricity substation - they're rather striking to see..

If I am honest, some of these are inspired by other shots on Flickr, so not sure if that's cheating !

My Tunes

Steel Angles

Close up of the structure of the vents - if only I'd known about these for last months comp..

Vents

Peekaboo

Working in the Square Mile, I must pass hundreds of these each day, but never notice them - I might start waving at them.

Re: London's finest air conditioning vents...

I think you've done a good job of these, 1&2 especially.
I think you needed to step about 1 pace to your right for number 3 to work to the same standard.
Number 4 doesn't do a lot for me, but I'd say it could do with a tiny bit more room to breathe above the camera.

Cheers - 1&2 are probably my favourites, but as I say, they're not overly original, as these sculptures have been snapped a fair number of times, and there's only so angles to take a shot from !

Now you mention it, 3 is a bit off centre - I'm back that way next weekend for work, so might revisit..

4 isn't my thing normally either, but it made me think that the camera was spying on someone from around the corner - again, agree it might be placed a bit tight in the frame.

Thanks for the comments - always useful to get another opinion, as it's a good way to improve.

#1 with the guy is good.
Am liking the abstract nature of #2.
Well seen - the symmetry in #3
#4 I think the camera could indeed use a little bit more space to breathe at the top.
Good set.

No1 is a great shot - the addition of the person is what elevates it above the others for me.
They are all good shots though. Nice work.

Superbly dynamic shapes. Looks like one of those spots where you can hang around and wait to see what happens, then snap a cracker. I like them all.

Certainly not cheating, those are great, love the symmetry and sharp edges.
