Rooting through the hedges with my 20mm 1.8

Took the padawan out for a nature walk this afternoon. I thought i'd limit myself to the 20mm 1.8 for a bit of a challenge.

Anyway, we had great fun rooting through the hedges near the river looking for things to shoot.

Dad! here's something...

That first and the last are the pick of the bunch for me,really nice scott.

I love the the effect the wide aperture mixed with a wide angle has given on these.

Looks like a quality lens...which one is it?.

I think this is one of my favourite sets posted on this forum. The wide angle and shallow DoF is something I have not really looked at before but I think it works very well. Great shots

Its the Sigma 20mm 1.8 - a very underrated lens in my opinion. It has fantastic close focusing ability.

It's not the sharpest lens in the world, and its a bit a monster - but I love it.

These are a very nice set. I love 1, 5 and 6 - you have an excellent eye for a strong composition, especially with 5. As I scrolled down the shot didn't seem that special until I got to the snail; the snail elevated this humdrum shot into something special.

The rest of the shots aren't as interesting but they work well as part of the overall set.

Love the light and colour in these. They look so natural, but vibrant because of the strong greens. As Simon said, so strong compositionally too. Particularly the first and the snail ones. All of them show that 'discovery' aspect so well, like a window into another world.
Makes a difference looking at them knowing you and your young apprentice were exploring together. Summed up beautifully in the last one.

Hello there

Really do like that first one, composition off it and the colours really work well for me.
