BTCC @ Silverstone

Just been sorting out a few pics from Silverstone on sunday. It was my first proper attempt at motorsport photography, and it did take me a while to get some decent results whilst panning - although I had a few keepers at 1/60th. I didn't find the track too bad to geting decent photos, although i wasn't that impressed with the overall feel and layout - perhaps it was because it was ******* down all day...

Anyway here they are - the nuts girl was fantastic!

Re: BTCC @ Silverstone

Can't believe you had no comments on the Nuts girl if nothing else.

Can't have been a lot of fun in that rain. Panning tecnique at 1/60 is very good. Nice sense of speed. The ones taken near the puddle have benefited from an interesting reflection too.
Favourites are the single seaters because of the composition. Personally I think these shots look better because of the space infront of them accentuating the movement.
Good stuff.

What a truly awful day to shoot motor sport but the racing was fun and event full. I know what you mean difficult to get decent photos, heres a few from me.

Yes yes wonderful shots, but what a waste, all that time getting lovely pictures of cars when she was there. Typing this on a drool covered keyboard. Doesn't she realise I've got a 105mmVR...seems to get them for Tarmoo.

Re: BTCC @ Silverstone

Quality! really makes we want to get out and see some! (motorsport).

Any of the ones with the partial reflections are my faves although the motion in all is great.

Might go stand on the bypass behind my house and try some panning

That was going to be my question as well - I thought all spectator areas at Silverstone were behind fencing. Nice pics though!

Re: BTCC @ Silverstone

I was in a covered stand on the infield which is actually quite close to the track and the fence is low not much chance of the cars coming off there, as they are exiting a right hand bend.

Re: BTCC @ Silverstone

Most of those shots were taken between becketts and chapel, just before hanger straight. I'd heard Silverstone was a nightmare to take pics, but i thought it was ok.

Re: BTCC @ Silverstone

Really love this one...

The fact that it's dead on from the side, that it looks like a colourful scalextric car and the muted background colours all give it a lift. Really nice capture.
In fact there's a lot more I like about it too. The space to the right, the armco, the diagonal. Very very nice.
