Fun with the Hun on the Funicular

Strange how nearly all my photos have a story attached, as its a wet afternoon i thought i would bore you with this one
Taken on our recent visit to Bergen also in the rain.

My wife and i decided to go on the funicular railway to the top of the mountain above Bergen, we were first there waiting at the gate for the train to come down and thought great we will get the best seat at the front as it goes up, then 4 German tourists with Canon dslr,s arrived behind us, i always let my wife go in front of me in crowds as she has a disability (she was born without a hip joint in one leg, which means this leg does not move sideways so if she gets pushed from the other side she will fall over as she cant move her leg to steady herself and uses a stick to steady herself)
We went to go through the gate and these 4 Germans just pushed her out the way and jumped in the front seat, i called them ignorant B*****ds very loudly in front of everyone, but they must be used to it as they did,nt react at all.
Got to the top and had another go at them and got the answer, no speak english with a smile on there chops
Took some pics

Wife took one me with her TZ1 after i had calmed down

When it was time to go down again, we made sure we was
at the front again at the gate and once again the Germans were behind us, so wife came up with a plan and told me to stand in front of her at the gate, when the gate opened
she jammed her walking stick across the gate behind me and the Germans went to push past again and could not get past the walking stick barrier and she kept it there until i got in the front seat, some English people behind clapped and cheered her, (love that girl)

All that to get this one bloody photograph

Good on ya Barry (and Mrs Bodman) - However, this behaviour was nothing to do with them being German.

Oh yes - we all know what these Canon owners are capable of.

Love that last shot - well worth fighting for.

Strangely Scott, i thought it was typical behaviour of Canon owners and nothing to do with them being German,
But as the holiday progressed i realised it was the German character being exaserbated by using Canon cameras.
We stayed at 4 different hotels during the tour and at one of them their was 36 in our group booking in en masse at reception and a German Couple forced their way through our group to the desk and tried to book in, the hotel receptionist was having none of it and firmly told them to get to the back of the group.

Then at another hotel the breakfast was a sort of buffet affair where you all quequed and helped yourselves as you walked round the tables with food on, yes and again who was pushing in again, was the germans and they were elbowed out by the me and others in our group it was getting a bit nasty at times.

Then on another day our group all got taken to a big shop that sold all glass ornaments and bowls and this was actually done on the premises and they had stayed open so we could all see this being done, we all stood in a semi circle to watch the glass blower do his thing, lo and behold
a german man and woman came in with cameras, went in front of us and both of them started taking close ups of the glass blower, we let them do this for a couple of minutes then pointed out to them they were blocking our view, they took no notice so one our group Big Norm walked up to them grabbed them both by their coats and pulled them back, they then both left muttering in German.
Unbelievably, they both had Canon dslr,s
All the above is absolutely true, i always thought the towels on the deck chair stories were a bit of a myth, not any more.

I suppose the moral of all this, is to avoid going to holiday resorts where lots of Canon dslr owners are likely to frequent

Great story, pity you didn't get a shot of the Germans' faces when your wife pulled that stunt.

Harumph... I've just covered the Canon logo on my camera with black tape... wouldn't want to come up against Mrs Bodman's walking stick.
