Sunrise ‘Again’

Just going over some old early morning shots!
As always C&C most welcome, I like them but they may not be to everyone’s taste.

I like numbers 1 and 2 the colours are excellent, the contrast between the reds/oranges and the blues is amazing. Good work man.

Great colours.

The third one looks like nuclear power station in meltdown.

‘Medway Maritime Gateway’ that’s very good Senu, I’ve lived here for 30 odd years and never heard it called that, I think I’ll use that in my Flickr Tags!

Why not?
It is actually part of the Thames Gateway as you know, but w back in the days I worked as a Snr Registrar , initially at Chatham , then at the Hospital in Gillingham. ( called Medway Maritime Hospital) . We made posters for Hospital Balls with that name ( just for fun)
I noticed a rapid development around St Marys Island on a recent visit too . More Photo opportunities for you perhaps?

Re: Sunrise ‘Again’

I do like numbers 1&2, the colours are great .. as is the background.
Not as keen on number 3 though.

Can I ask, as no one answered my question in the Sunrise posting that I did as to where you focus the camera when doing a shot like this. Is it the background, foreground or somewhere else?

Re: Sunrise ‘Again’

The processing is certainly a bit heavy for my taste, but I do like them and you're right that you don't have to please everyone! Nice compositions mostly, although the first would be a lot better if that 'H' shaped thingy wasn't in the foreground and in the second although I like the frame of the bushes the grass stems don't really benefit the shot.

I do like the spit of land on the left of the third one and the silhouetted cranes look great.

Hi Mike, one of the good things about the 40D is its live view with floating focus frame feature, you can set you camera on a tripod, open live view and move the focus square to the specific point you want, in the case of the first photo I covered the boat to the left of centre, at F8 (the sweet spot) I left every thing else to the camera, this photo is a crop from a larger aspect in lightroom using the third grid for alignment!

The original capture has had hue and sat applied, I have yet to take a shot that I’m completely happy with straight out of the camera!

Re: Sunrise ‘Again’

I don't find 2 as appealing but 1 has beautiful colours and contrast and 3 has beautiful red/orange tones. 1 is definitely my favourite. For me the H does give it depth. Great capture.
