My daughter has been helping me with some portraiture practice using off camera flash and an small umbrella.
Ive played with the processing a few times but Im happy with these two..I think

Re: Look into my Eyes

First one for me, I think - the colours of the scarf and the eyes really set it off for me.

That said, the smoothing out processing(if that's the right term ?) seems to lose some definition around the nose.

Great eyes though..

Re: Look into my Eyes

They're both cracking - the colour in the first is superb but I think I prefer the gaze of the second, it's much more intense.

Quite Steve McCurry-esque

Re: Look into my Eyes

I like these Alex - but can't help feeling they're a little over cooked.

They instantly remind me of a NG cover from some time ago.

Re: Look into my Eyes

Speaking of Steve McCurry and NG, this is quite a good watch if you have a spare 15 minutes

Apologies for going OT...

Re: Look into my Eyes

Going against the grain here as usual (probably why I bought a Pentax ) but I prefer the second one.
The expression in the eyes is just so much better imo and the way the veil is placed higher draws you to them in an instant.

Really like this one actually

Re: Look into my Eyes

Personally, I'd be pretty happy to have my efforts compared to such an iconic image as the NG / Steve McCurry photo referred to here.
In any case, you've done a great job.
The skin in #1 is perhaps a bit too 'doll-like' - although I do quite like the way the veil and eye colours complement one another.
#2 is definitely the better of the two. Powerful stuff

Re: Look into my Eyes

I think they're both cracking shots. Whilst I agree #1 is 'doll-like' I don't think it's been overdone - it is, I feel, the exact effect you were looking for, and very well done it is too.

If there is any (extremely minor) criticism I could make, it is that #1 has 'perfection' written all over it, except for that loose strand of hair over her left eye - as I said, a very small criticism.

To be honest I feel unworthy making any criticism at all, you should be very proud of the shots, and your daughter!.

Both are great but I definately prefer the second one.

Out of interest how did you process them?

Cracking shots!

Re: Look into my Eyes

I prefer the first one, colours are course overcooked, but thats your style Vulkan and makes for a very dramatic image

Note to myself
Dont go to dinner at Vulkans if he is doing the cooking
