Ölü deniz, Türkiye

It was actually mid June that I went to Turkey and although I processed the shots pretty quickly I've never actually got round to uploading them anywhere!

So here we go...

#1 - The girlfriend on the beach

17mm | 1/200s | F6.3 | CPL

#2 - Butterfly valley where we never actually got to land cos it was to choppy

14mm | 1/100s | F8 | CPL

#3 - The next few are all places we visited on the boat trip

10mm | 1/60s | F8 | CPL

#4

22mm | 1/60s | F8 | CPL

#5 - This place made me think having a boat would allow for amazing photos. This beach was only accesible by boat and even though it was probably on 60m it had loads of photographic potential. Although I took my tripod out there I never carried it day to day and so never actually used it. It was quite interesting limiting yourself to the maximum you could handhold.

10mm | 1/8s | F22 | CPL + ND8

#6

10mm | 1/8s | F22 | CPL + ND8

#7 - This is just after we got off the boat on the main beach at Olu Deniz

15mm | 1/20s | F22 | CPL (ND8?)

#8 - Turtle Beach

55mm | 1/60s | F10 | CPL (for no reason)

#9 - Risked my life by boating accross from the end of the beach here and then climbing up this rocky cliff. That's my kind of photogaphy!

10mm | 1/60s | F8 | CPL

#10

75mm | 1/160s | F8 | CPL

#11 - Pano of 5 images I think

51mm | 1/200s | F8 | ISO 2oo | CPL

#12 - Now wish I'd taken the time and effort to change to my UWA here as 17mm just doesn't quite fit everything in to my liking. My excuse is that I was perched at a precarious angle on very slidey gravel above a steep drop...

17mm | 1/100s | F8 | ISO 2oo | CPL

#13

40mm | 1/125s | F8 | ISO 2oo | CPL

C&C most welcome. Hope you enjoy.

Oh yeah and a polarizer was used in all these shots as you can see it really is worth its wait in gold in a place like this. I've got a couple of comparison shots that I'll post in a new thread to show just how much of a positive difference they make.

Wonderful images.

#2 Superb depth to it. I think the border is making me want to see more of the foreground sea - if that makes sense ?

Also love #4 and #5, particularly as you had no tripod. #11 is probably the stand out shot for me - lovely composition of the heart shaped island and the colours are fantastic.

Lovely set of shots - I'm always blown away by the quality of light in that part of the world.

All great, but I like number 10 - the couple on the platform make it

Can't wait to show the wife these as we're going there for a week towards the end of September (Hisaronu actually but close enough). Stunning looking scenery Ally and you've done it justice with your pics. I wasn't really looking forward to going as I've never fancied Turkey as a break in the past but your shots have sparked some interest

Re: Ölü deniz, Türkiye

I agree with the holiday brochure remark... these are top notch!

It's 2 &11 for me. That life risking boat trip and rock climb would have been way to tempting for me too!!

Re: Ölü deniz, Türkiye

A very good set; a pleasure to look at and makes me want to go on holiday.

In numbers 3,5 & 6 though, I find my eye jumping from foreground to background and not really taking in the scene as one picture. UWA lenses can be tricky to use, particularly if too much emphasis is placed on the foreground. All down to taste of course, and more a point of view than a criticism.

I'll be very interested to see your comparison shots with and without polariser. Whilst the deep sea colours are undeniably gorgeous, so often it is the reflections that make water look so beautiful (and water like) in a photograph.
