D3 which lens to partnerit

I have earned a little bonus from work and they have agreed to purchase a D3 and lens for me, currently I have the following lenses already. sigma 100-300 F4, sigma 70-200 F2.8(probably going to sell) 50mm 1.8 and a sigma 18-50mm F2.8

Personally I think my choice would be the 24-70 F2.8, anyone had experience with this combo or recommend other combo's

Cheers

Grant

The 24-70 Nikkor is suposedly a cracking lens, I know Guy speaks very highly of it. You could also look at the 14-24 which is also supposed to be a stunner.

Re: D3 which lens to partnerit

Just out of interest, why sell the 70-200? And will the 18-50 still work with the D3? or is that to keep on the D300?

The Nikkor 24-70/2.8 is just superlative. The finest standard zoom on the market bar none.

It would be the last lens I'd give up. The 14-24 is equally brilliant, even a little more specialist.

Most of this wedding was 24-70 (some 50/1.4)

24-70f2.8 seems to be the best option.

A mate who is a photographer that what he uses and wouldnt give it up.
Seems to be a sweet combo..

Agreed the 70-200 is a great lens, just seems at the mo I am using the 100-300 most of the time, however it may be because that suits my current Rooksbury project. As for the 18-50 on the D3 who knows, is it not a DX type lens ideal for crop ?

As for the D300 I will be keeping that for the extra reach and pure performance it gives.

If I can get even close to that quality I would be more than happy, your post just confirms my gut feeling.

Thanks
