Nice shots, pity the boat in the second one is going in the wrong direction .

Max: Next time you go down to shoot them try to set a longer exposure time and try panning with the boats movement. That will blur the bakground and surroundings and give a better impression of speed.

I like them though for a first go...2nd especially is a nice compostition

Try cropping 1 & 3 a bit more - too much unecessary water.

Would depend on what effect he is trying to achieve though;
Some Sports close ups don't always portray the element of scale
I think cropping off #3 in particular would rob it of something

Re: First shot Complete Newbie Please Insult

Thanks for all the replies and yes was very happy with the results as was simply trying to push camera to its limits with full zoom and high shutter speed. My old semi DSLR would have given me the sharp picture with a trade of having the picture very dark. These DSLRs are frankly amazing and when I know what I am doing I hope to acheive some really good shots.

Really need to learn how to read the Histogram as reviewing pictures in bright sunlight is very hard.

Thanks again Max

Your grammar is poor, you are irritating and presumptuous, and what's worse, you have bad breath.

I know what you mean, but you could crop a bit from the bottom right, just to make the boats appear larger.
#1 would look really nice cropped - something like this (hope you don't mind me cropping your shot, will remove if you like)

Well I had that coming. Seriously thanks guys, being new to a DSLR can be tricky.

As I seem to be a tourist in my home town this weekend I Popped into Cromer's latest attraction Cromer Amazonia Zoo

If I stand still long enough you may get that
CAMERA OUT OF MY FACE!!!

Lousy pic but very funny at time. Russian Parrots doing changing the guard.

Was very hot, everybody got the paddling pools out.

Look at the little monkey

Flamingos going green.

Point that thing elsewhere or i'm going to eat you.

Re: First shot Complete Newbie Please Insult

For the fast boat pics, try sports mode (rather than Tv). It's designed for that type of thing.

For caged animals (behind wires/bars), try using a wide aperture to narrow your depth of field. This will blur the bars/wires whilst keeping the subject animal sharp and focussed

The wires/bars are too noticeable in your pics.
