Mojo!

Help! I've lost it.

I really need a kick up the bum to get hammering the camera again.

What do you guys do when you just can't be @rsed?

Re: Mojo!

Check this thread started by Gordon a few weeks back. Watch the vids, they're pretty interesting and it's reassuring to know that everyone goes through a bit of a funk.
Just punch through it. I don't mean it to sound inconsiderate, or disinterested, I just think it is sound advice. It certainly helped me.
One thing I would say though, is that it's perhaps easier to find yourself an event or think of a project, rather than just going for a walk and taking the camera with you. A random preamble can be less than inspiring, but going out with a purpose or for a specific event at least gives you a goal, an aiming point. Then just shoot til the cards are full. Push yourself to do stuff you wouldn't normally. Try everything, every angle, every aperture, the lot.
Good luck.

Re: Mojo!

How about making a relatively cheapy purchase of something to get you inspired and back into it - e.g. some cheap filters (I just got a black and white set), or some remote flash triggers (I think you can get some very reasonably priced ones from eBay). Nothing like a new bit of kit to get you itching to get out and test it out.

Re: Mojo!

I was going to suggest a new cheap piece of kit as well - a filter, a lens, a Nikon D700 or whatever. Also try to remember why you used to like taking photos or revisit some of your favourite subjects.

Failing all that - fire of a few shots so we can all make comments on how good you are

Re: Mojo!

Well I took my own advice and I have a project that I've added to my 100 strangers thing and I've been doing test shots and planning for it. There is nothing to show .....yet....but I am hoping that by preparing and testing I will be able to bridge the creative gap I posted about and create something "I" really want.

I think having a project to work towards...or several, is good.

Happy 10,000 posts, Gordon!

Try picking up someone's photography site challenge or finding shots for a themed shoot or competition.

Give yourself a problem to think around. I find that even if I don't post something for that theme/challenge/competition it gets me thinking about something I DO want to photograph.

It's a bit like tossing a coin to make a decision for you. If you don't want to go with the coin's "choice" then you must be more motivated by the decision than you first thought. So go for it (if that makes sense)
