Unhappy My printer has died, suggestions why needed please!

Okay, my Epson 1290 has been working just fine. The black ink is 30% full and the colour, installed last Sunday, is about 60% full.

My wife was printing a pdf document and suddenly the print disappeared, i.e., the printer, although going through the motions wasn't and still isn't, putting anything onto paper.

No test pages or any documents will print despite the printer obviously making the right noises (and actions).

Any suggestions as to why this may have happened or what could be done to get the thing to work again. Come to think of it, it had been making a few strange noises lately!

I guess this may mean an urgent purchase of a R1800 or r2400 as my wife needs to print documents for a job interview / presentation on Monday morning.

Cheers

Re: My printer has died, suggestions why needed please!

sounds to me like it might be dead, but if u like, u can try the epson printer service utility. its freeware so i dont think ill get in trouble for anything so here it goes

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

download and intall that, then try the reset counters option. u may need to turn the printer off after resetting and it may need to be done more than once. but i dont think thats your problem to be fair.

Thanks for the suggestion, but still no joy.

I think I will have to get a new printer, so should it be an r1800 or r2400? Now where are those reviews?
