Compact Digital Camera - small, easy and light

All - in advance, thanks for looking.

My wife's trusty Minolta Dimage has served well these past few years, but now both batteries and the associated charger are dead. No official replacements available! Can go third party via various webstores, but this is a good excuse ot go for a new one. Needs to be small, have good battery life, work very well in auto p&s mode and most of all, take good quality pics. Not a MP freak, but it seems minimum seems to be around 7-8 mp.

Looking at established brands like Sony, Canon and Nikon (although I had a look at a Coolpix this weekend and it felt very cheap and plastic!).

Any advise very welcome. Thanks
Antpink

Re: Compact Digital Camera - small, easy and light

I bought my wife a Canon Powershot A570 a couple of months ago and we are both impressed with it's ease of use and the quality of the pictures it produces.
I think we paid somewhere around £95.00 for it.
Very good camera
