Fantastic Skies down by the Firth of Forth

Weather was, what the joe public would call, pretty horrible yesterday. However fast moving clouds and a stiff breeze meant condition were ripe for some moody photography.

So, dodging the showers, I took a cycle down to Portobello beach to see the sea.

The first I am extremely happy with I just don't think the conditions could have been better for it. More than worth nearly getting stranded by the incoming tide

10mm | 1.6s | F14 | CPL + ND8

The amazing sky that was heading my way about 20mins later.

10mm | 1/125s | F9 | ISO 200 | CPL

All comments etc most welcome

Couple of nice pics there. You have to be careful with those tides, I learnt the hard way from that it's the submerged rocks that done me when the tide came in and I tried to get back.

Re: Fantastic Skies down by the Firth of Forth

both very nice photos interesting colouring in #1 and i think it works well.

not sure but #1 would maybe work even better with a slightly longer exposure to make the front whiteness of the waves coming up the beach slightly more flowing and fluffy

Re: Fantastic Skies down by the Firth of Forth

What is that strange pole object at the end of the break/barrier in the 2nd photo? Is it a marker for boats?

EDIT - oh yeah, forgot to mention they're nice shots, but you knew that already.

I think so. Sort of a warning as to where the end of the sea defence thingy lies. I've seen used quite often all over the place.

Thanks everybody.
