Going to the Police concert tonite at the Manchester Arena, is taking pictures allowed? I want to take my Sony A350 Dslr along. I know P&S cameras less chance being hasle by security instead taking a 'Pro' looking Dslr!

It's a lottery to be honest. Sometimes the rules are heavy handedly enforced, other times you could walk in with a 1D and a 400mm Lens...
Are you going alone? Just make sure that someone else in your group has a good P&S just in case you get yours confiscated

It is down to the organisors on the rules. If you phone the venue they may be able to tell you if it doesnt say on the tickets.
Personally wouldnt want to risk it but have seen them at some concerts

Thing is - they *always* say no, and every ticket I've ever seen says no.
It's all down to the level of enforcement on the night.

Managed to get in twice with my camera to the last few gigs Ive attended, its up to the organisers and the act. Best bet is to call the booking office and ask, then goto the venue in advance and ask again then hope they dont change there mind. They wont allow Flash photography after 3 songs normally (thats when the media tend to leave), so up the ISO and dont sit all night taking loads o pics..... good luck
BTW I'll be going to the concert tomorrow eve with a few mates.

I think I will leave the Dslr at home and take a p&S instead, don't wanna chance it and surely don't want it 'confiscated' or left with reception!
Didn't realised the concert was on tonight until last night when I checked the re-sceduled dates for the cancelled date back in Oct 2007! Looking forward to a good show by Sting & Co.
