I know there are fake memory cards (I have one), but are people finding the same problems with either Cokin or Hoya filters? If not, I shall buy a few bits from ebay, but if they are, I will go somewhere like amazon (although presumably fakes can end up anywhere).

I have searched and seen this thread, but it didn't have a specific answer (Fake Hoya Filters?)

I do not know for certain, but my guess would be "yes". Remember the old adage about things appearing too good to be true and buy with care.

If you're on eBay, look for the Kenko Pro 1 Digital range. These are Hoya filters under a different name; made by Tokina for the Asian/American markets at a lower cost than the Hoya version. I've got both Hoya & Kenko and can verify that the Kenko ones are the real deal.

Yeah I was thinking of that exact adage, but I thought that while £38 for a filter was better than shops, it wasn't too good to be true. These things can have huge mark-ups.

Thanks, sounds good. I have a kenko pro teleconverter (=tokina). I didn't know they also covered Hoya - how do I know I'd be getting the Hoya Pro/HMC, instead of the basic Hoya - EDIT - I assume the Kenko Pro = Hoya Pro - ignore me

Are there any ebay retailers of these kenko filters you can recommend?

I've bought from Nefamine (took around 3 weeks), and Digital Rev (5 days, so would recommend). The one that you've linked to looks good-only about a fiver more than I paid for the same one from Hong Kong, and it's in the UK, so no risk of getting stung by customs (I didn't, but the risk is always there). Combined with the next-day delivery that looks a good one to go for.

And yes, the Kenko Pro 1 Digital is the same as the Hoya Pro 1 Digital.
