My First Novice Pics using my new DMC-TZ4

Having purchased the above camera for a bargain £138 inc 4GB SD card and mini tripod,

ive decided, when time allows to use the camera more than just for social events/nights out!

Having seen some brilliant pics on here ive had a go myself

This pic:

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...lis/003002.jpg

A beautiful Hydrangea. Macro NOT used (getting used to this setting!) used IA

This pic:

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...lis/003003.jpg

Lytham Windmill. Taken quite far away using zoom x4 if i remember correctly

Any comments, good, bad or indifferent welcome

Other than pointing and click ive never taken pictures before with any precision or messed around with camera settings.

Iam a complete Novice to all this so i dont expect to be David Bailey just yet

Sounds like a decent price for the camera and you should be chuffed.

The flower picture doesn't do a great deal for me, but i'm not a lover of flowers. Composition wise, the second shot would be improved by placing the windmill on the right hand third instead of bang in the middle of the frame, have a read here for an explanation of the rule of thirds

More than anything, welcome to the money pit and enjoy!

I'm kinda new to this myself mate, so don't take my opinion as gospel...but I think what lets the windmill pic down is that the building on the left is cut off and there's too much of nothing interesting in the foreground.

Just like you, I have a TZ Panny and am finding out it's strengths and weaknesses. There's certainly more to these cameras than just point and shoot.

Yeah i thought that myself about the building and the foreground is bleak as i took the pic from some distance using the zoom feature and nothing in the foreground but lytham green iam slowly discovering the features on this camera and its impressive.

I used to be almost scared in playing and changing settings and was certianly a point and click person but know iam finding it quite interesting about the methods and technics of taking a pic and this cameras settings.

The interest must be an age thing! lol

Cheers for the input mate, what TZ you got? the TZ5?

Nice couple of pics. I had the same camera a while back and you will find that images converted from Raw will be even sharper. Good luck and enjoy.
