Query please..
If one was to buy/sell a kit lens is there any way you can tell its from a kit and not bought initially as a separate item?

Not really, only difference is that it doesnt come in a box. The Canon 18-55mm with a plastic mount is only available as a kit though (I think - please correct me if im wrong)

There wouldn't be a box if it was bought as a kit. (it comes in the same box as the camera.)

At the end of the day what would it matter. It's not going to effect the performance of the lens.

Thanks for replies... My Camera box states 40D SLR camera + EF-S 17-55mm IS USM lens kit. The lens itself was in a separate box on its own. Just wondering.
