A Linhay

Hello there

Another from 4 day trip in North Devon.

This next shot was taken, just outside Braunton. This is a circular linhay, near the Marsh Road.

Got up early one morning, while the rest were in bed. and had a drive around, and came across this. Knew I had to stop and capture it. While I was setting up the tripod, seem a farmer taking care off his sheep near by.

His van was parked near my car and so I went over to have a little chat with him. Asked him was it ok to take a couple of pictures of that building. What the linhay, yer no problem he said in a strong west country tone.

Wished I had asked him what it was now. Me being a city boy, not got a clue, maybe put hay in it.

This was a test shot, forgot I had left the camera on ISO 800 from the night before. But quite happy with the way it has come out really. I like the way I caught the sheep in it.

By the way this is a single shot, decide to give a sort of old feel to it.

Re: A Linhay

When I saw the title I was expecting some type of bird, so I now know what a linhay is . Nice shot although I may have cropped some of the empty space on the right.

Re: A Linhay

I like the processing, it seems to have worked well. My only niggle is that the building looks lop sided which could easily be fixed in photoshop. Nice moody sky and having all the sheep walking in the same direction out of the frame works nicely.

Re: A Linhay

Like John, I didn't have a clue what a linhay was! Just tell the farmer to have it straightend for your next visit.

I'd be tempted to take a bit of sky off just to emphasise those sheep.

Certainley a different effect.

I agree! What is the farming industry coming too if they cannot keep their linhays standing erect

Re: A Linhay

Well at least I have contributed one thing to this forum, and that is you all know what a linhay is

Thanks for the coments

I did crop another sheep out of the right hand side, wanted to leave the empty space for the sheep to walk into, if you know what I mean.

I did think about levelling up the linhay, then decided to leave as is. Maybe looking back I should off.

Cheers Holo

Re: A Linhay

Hello there

Another on of the Linhay, without the sheep this time.

HDR again, then converted to B&W, then duotone.
