Canon IS - leave switched on or not?

As the title says, what are your thoughts on whether or not to leave IS on at all times.

Over to you.

Re: Canon IS - leave switched on or not?

I always leave mine on. I figure its better to forget to turn it off, than forgetting to turn it on.

If you're worried about battery life, buy a 2nd battery. Better still buy a grip. when I had my 350d and grip I went a full weekends shooting with IS on all the time with no need to recharge.

It really isn't that draining on the camera, and only activates when you're focusing.

I leave mine on unless I'm panning or doing some tripod work.

Usually I forget to turn it back on again . Just like when I turn autofocus off .

Same here I just leave it on only turn it off when using a tripod. As for battery life it doesn't seem to be an issue
