Dead pixel on new canon 400D

Been testing my new camera and noticed a dead pixel Searching the web it seems like it's quite a common occurrence and people are advising just to photoshop any out?

Very easy to photoshop it out, but should I? People are implying I could try 10 different cameras and all would either have one or two to start with, or develop them over a year or two and that Canon will simply run a program that merges it (or something like that) with the next pixel if it's repaired?

Ignoring the photo content (was just testing the camera), the first pic is it's original where you cant even see it. The white box is the bit I've gradually zoomed in on on the other pics.

Original

Zoomed in the maximum amount (around 23 mouse clicks)

Well, I really don't know how you noticed that! I wouldn't worry too much and yes, I would just photoshop it out although I can't physically see it in the first image, nor the 2nd and nor the 3rd.

Part of me agrees with you

But as it was brand new, I didn't see why I should be expected to have to photoshop a camera fault every time I use it, so gave Jessops a ring
to see what they advised.

They said to bring it in and they'd swap it for a new one, which I've just done
