Re: Got some wireless flash triggers!

I haven't a clue when it comes to flash technique, but the last 2 are fantastic imo.

Re: Got some wireless flash triggers!

nice shots !

Im sure you already are aware of this site....
but here is a good resource. and a great pool on Flickr

what wireless triggers did you use ?

I am currently getting into this a little bit. I have a flash off camera on a cord, then a slave that has an optical trigger (sees the main flash and fires itself).

Would quite like the freedom of wireless so you don't need to trail a cord!

Re: Got some wireless flash triggers!

Thanks guys. Well, I didn't have the money to invest in Pocket Wizards, so I searched high and low to find a cheap ulternative. A lot of people suggested I should get the Cactus Wireless flash trigger and receivers from Gadget Infinity.
They seem to work great, haven't gotten any misfires yet.

Thank you for your comments

Re: Got some wireless flash triggers!

I, on the other hand, have been getting a few misfires with my Cactus Wireless Trigger. It would be useful for playing around but if you are serious about getting it right the first time (which applies for the type I do), you need to invest 10x more I'm afraid!

Re: Got some wireless flash triggers!

I'm no flash expert so feel free to ignore...but I'd say that the big bright patch on the right in #1 and #2 is distracting. It could be really good if you got the bright patch behind the model's head to get a halo effect and accentuate the bit of rim lighting you've already got there. Nice catchlight in the eyes though.

#3 is a a bit too heavy on the shadows esp above his eyes which exaggerates his brow, but nice & moody.

#4 Nice & dramatic - probably my fave. Both #3 & #4 have v.dark eyes with no catchlight - might be worth getting one of those little fold-away reflectors next to you to bounce some light into his eyes.

Top work with the experimentation though. I find it hugely difficult to balance the flash output & get the results I want.
