Hayseed Dixie, Edinburgh, Liquid Room, 280308

Macro free zone today

Went to see Hayseed Dixie on Friday night.
They started out a few years back playing AC/DC 'bluegrass' cover versions.
It was a great gig - if you get a chance to catch them, do!

Only downside was it finished at 10pm so they could turn the Liquid Room into a disco... boo!

I thought I'd try to get a few band shots, and tried a mixture of flash and ambient.
In the end I came away with a few shots I'm quite pleased with, but I do find this concert photography lark really quite difficult.

They seem like a group of angry men!
Mind you with a Betty Boop tattoo and eyeliner at that age whatd'ya expect!

Nice and sharp with good light.

Crackin shots Dave.......I like No6.....the sweaty 1..............yip that does do it for me

I also like the big beardy 1, Maybe you could email that to nobhead

clarkson from TG and really annoy him!! as he is a stonsh lover of the bearded brigade.................

Yep I dare say these fellas can look after themselves - you wouldn't wanna mess with them!
Especially when you;ve heard how well they play "Duelling Banjos" (the tune from 'Deliverance').

The ones in this thread are all 70-200 2.8 IS.
I also switched to the 17-55 2.8 IS for a little while during the gig.

Great photos onefivenine, captures the gig perfectly - I should know I was there

My 3rd time seeing the mighty Hayseed Dixie, did you get down to the Blind Beggar afterwards? All the band were there and couldn't have been more accomodating to the fans.
I've got a pic on my phone of my fiancee and Barley at the pub afterwards.

Hiya Mike, aye it was a belting gig.

I'd have liked a shot from stage of Dale crowd surfing - but I didn't want to push my luck with security.

Afraid I was on call for work so had to give the Blind Beggar a miss.

It's probably just as well - last time I was there I left at about 4am... I think!

!

Hopefully the band will get to see these photos - I gave them my flickr details anyway.

just saw this thread. we were at the beggar also. im good mates with the band, missed the dale crowd surf was out the back unfort. on tour again guys

i will be at all gigs, as i usually am when they tour scotland. after these i will be over 30 gigs.

il be wearing a kilt and hayseed t shirt with my Sony DSLR with my big lens prob. come say hi
