Where to get the best deal on lens?

Hi,

I'm going on the trip of a lifetime next week to Mount Everest with an expedition for a month. I want to buy a wide angle telephoto lens - ie Sigma 10-20mm or Canon 10-20mm. Unfortunately i have spent loads on the trip and the gear that i need for it so funds are tight.

Can anyone help with ideas on where to get one or is anyone selling one

Thanks
John

£250 is the cheapest I've seen but they do ship from China.

Dont know if its worth risking on delivery time but OSD are very good on price,I have personally always been delivered to in 3/4 days but I think they quote delivery as 7-10 days.

To be honest if it's £250 on onestop, then jessops is looking good at £279 to avoid all possible hassles

Re: Where to get the best deal on lens?

Thanks for all of your replies.

I did have a look at some of the HK suppliers and although the prices looked good, I don't want to risk the delivery or extra customs costs.
I like the idea of buying in Kathmandu and I've don a bit of research into this and it could be an option.

Will look further it to that, but nyone else fot any good ideas????

Agreed. Used Kerso twice for a lens and a flash. Very good prices and service.

Re: Where to get the best deal on lens?

Can't really help on where to get the lens from (Kerso is where I got my Canon 10-22) but thought you may be interested in some of my recent pics. I got back from Nepal a week last Sunday having trekked to EBC. I mostly used my Canon 10-22, so maybe my pics can give you a feel for the lens?

Also spent a few days in Kathmandu - didnt find any decent camera shops although I wasnt looking specifically for gear.

Re: Where to get the best deal on lens?

No customs or VAT costs when ordering from OSD. They are excellent VFM suppliers (I bought my Sigma 70-300mm from them).

Purelygadgets has the Sigma 10-20mm @ £279.95.

Microglobe has a Sigma 15-30mm @ £239.00, Tamron 11-18mm @ £269.00 as possible alternatives.
