Best sub £200 for close -up pics???

having studied these forums for a while we had set our heart on a lumix tz3 but i have just been to jessops(for information purposes

) and was taken with an Olympus C-560 at £139 plus a tenner off making it £129!

the guy took a few close up shots of some keys in his hand and the pic and detail seemed a lot better on the olympus than the lumix, which suprised me a lot after the reviews on here.

the main reason for my question is because my wife decorates items such as mobile phones with swarovski crystals and has been featured in a few national papers so the close up aspect of the camera is THE most important.

i have added a photo of one of her items which was taken with our current fuji fine pix S3500.
notice when you zoom in it blurrs, this is what she is trying to avoid so any advice would be very grateful!

Ahoy!

Try these two:

Panasonic DMC-FZ8
Canon A720 IS

Both are within budget, have decent optical zoom and have a macro function. Reviews on both are very good.

to be honest mate im no photographer hence the reason for asking in the first place.

i think were after something a bit more compact!

anyone know anything about the Olympus C-560 ?????? cant find much on the web???

Size aint everything! You want beter quality than you already have according to your opening remark. I would SERIOUSLY look at the Canon A720 IS. This is a pocket camera.

I checked on the Olympus website, the C-560 isn't listed. Jessops are the cheapest. Bristol Cameras also have it, though more expensive than Jessops. Reviews appear to be non-existant.

yeah i saw the canon ixus although didnt try it out. i think i'll go back today t have another look.
