using brand names in art

Hi,

Thank you to everyone who replied to my last posting on taking photographs in public but can I ask another question with regards to what you can or can't photograph.

What if I wanted to use a brand name in a piece of art? Am I allowed to do that as long as I don't try to sell the art or do I have to get the permission of the company that uses the brand name. I've taken some photos in which a brand name is clearly displayed (in fact it is integral to the photo) and I wondered if I am allowed to do this or not.

Thanks
