Went for a wander around the garden and spotted this drop on the leaf of a tulip. With all the grey weather this last week, I decided to go B&W as it shows the weather at the time, and also makes the drop stand out from the leaf more than the colour version.

Camera: Nikon D50
Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture: f/16
Focal Length: 90 mm - Tamron 90mm macro

Diffused on board flash.

Nice shot mike - love the conversion, makes it into a very graphic image.

If I was being really picky, I might have been tempted to clean up the leaf on the left where there appear to be some white marks. Obviously, these are completely natural, but it might help give it that ultra clean look that some other macro water droplet shooters do so well.

Very nice though - I can see myself creeping around the garden with my 60mm micro nikkor now

@ Liquid - point taken about the marks, I didn't do much PP to this apart from the B&W conversion and saving in jpeg from RAW in Lightroom.

@ onefivenine - I like the way the drop magnifies the leaf's texture, it does look like a fabric weave.

What do you use for a diffuser Mike?
Seems to do the trick judging by the lack of a hard highlight on the droplet.

It's a piece of plastic milk bottle cut out to fit the end of the lens.

Works surprisingly well, but I'll probably be getting a SB600 or 800 soon.

Like it a lot, great work

If nick picking, a couple of white dots I might of clone out myself eg left hand side of the water droplet. Apart from that I like it a lot.
