Thought I would combine two of the more controversial topics of late - the use of old-fashioned film and unposed "candid" street photography

Shot on FUJI(chrome) Provia RDPII 100 on my Contax RTS with Zeiss Planar 50/1.4

I am still struggling to get the scans to approach the quality of the actual slides - which look absolutely awesome.

Like the two columns vs two people at each side of the frame - would have preffered if they were both stood bolt upright - but you can't have it all..

Saw this guy as I walked passed and thought that he seemed strangely fitting in with the mannequins whilst being completely out of place...

Like the laughter and the fact that they are doing similar things with their hands - shame I missed their eyes...

The quality is really impressive.
And not a blown highlight in sight.
Good old film er I mean slide!

I never tried slides when I used the old 50E but your shots may have just given me the impetus to give it a go!

Some nice shots here - is it Bath?

The contrast is a little high for my tastes, something that seems to happen to slide film when it's slightly underexposed, anfd the colour balance loosk a little on the magenta side, especially into the shadows.

I really like No.3, but feel a slightly tighter crop would balance the composition a little more.

I am just running through a roll of Colour Negative film now to compare (Kodak Portra 400VC) will post them once I have finished the roll in case anyone is interested in the difference between slide and negative films (not really a fair comparison i know - different manufacturers and different types of film)

I assume you mean Kodak Porta - Fuji made a transparency film called Provia (and very nice it was too)

The difference between film types is amazing. Fuji used to have shadows on the green side, with Kodaks being much warmer. The negative films were even more strange.. almost completely different.

I love the vibrant colours too, the wooden crate is my fav !

It's nice to see other people using film in this digital era. I currently have 5 cameras at home locked & loaded with film, ready to roll....
