Panny compacts a noise question

I was very tempted to purchase an FX33 now its around £145. However fairly extensive research has thrown up a number of comments on the noticable picture noise at anything above 200 with various Panasonic compacts. I realise compacts suffer this issue due to having a small sensor however I do like to be able to take shots in a dimly lit environment on holiday so wonder if the Panny is noticeably worse than say Fuji or Canon

I would appreciate any comments from Panasonic owners who have the TZ or FX30+ range of cameras.

The main reason for being draw to the Pansonic range is the 28mm equiv lense capability in a small package at a reasonable price. Should I be waiting and saving for a Fuji F100 or wideangle aside would the Fuji F40 be a good choice ( its avail from buyacamera.com for £99) as it seem that currently Fuji are hard to beat above 200 ISO.

I tried a TZ3 & the noise was atrocious.

I subsequently bought a Fuji F40FD from Play.com for £96.00 *delivered* (this price was after 4% quidco discount).

i'm very happy with it.....probably a keeper unless the Fx100 proves to be a good 'un.
