Ugh stupid woman

Sorry if it is a little off topic but i had to put it somewhere.
On another forum a lady was looking for a new camera but didnt know what to get. I didnt really put my thoughts on it being a newbie myself. But another woman whose husband is very into photography (as well as her) have advised her to look into camera which have ISO, ok i though fair enough but then proceeds to tell her that ISO is image stabilization and will stop the pics from being blured (i cant spell it lol)
So this woman has gone out looking for a camera with ISO on it so stop camera shake etc.
So i corrected her that iso was sensitivity to light and IS is stabilization and got told not to be stupid because her hubby knows lots about cameras and he told her that.
Gosh i maybe blonde but i am not that dumb cant wait to see the images with high iso to make it more stable because according to her the higher the iso the more stable it is lol

Well there it is rant over...if she was right im gonna look stupid now lol

Let it go, just let it go
If she wants to stop it shaking then buy a stand and put the bloody thing on the ground

Re: Ugh stupid woman

No, you're quite right, and quite justified to be annoyed!

Actually it's the marketing morons who started this one - they've been touting high ISO as "anti-shake" and it's making a lot of people very angry as it's misleading to the point of dishonesty.

The key difference, which you might want to point out as a followup post to this muppet - is that increasing the ISO, particularly on compact cameras, always lowers the image quality by increasing noise. IS doesn't have any impact on image quality, so as a technology for combating camera movement, it's FAR superior. Take a look at 800-1600 ISO images from the current crop of compacts - the results are godawful.

Where high ISO modes DO come in handy of course is for allowing low light action photography, because anti-shake doesn't help at all here, as IS works by allowing slower shutter speeds.
