Bristol Zoo - 16/2/2008.

A few with a D300 and the 70-200 VR lens.

Been giving the D300's a big work out over the last week. Really starting to like them. High ISO is not as good as I had hoped. Thats just me being honest. What they have done is allowed me to take photos and enjoy it, without worrying too much or wasting my time. The Zoo trip came out of nowhere. In mid Jan, I snapped a Gorilla carrying Roses in her mouth with her baby in her arms. Through a connection the Zoo asked for the image without payment, so they could promote adoption on Valentines day. So I said alright, but a few jollies to the Zoo would be in order, to which they said fine.

Pete.

What was the ISO settings for these pics Pete? Great set and fantastic to see your enjoying using the 300's.
Great that the Zoo would use an image of yours image and repay you with some free trips

Thanks all. I used auto ISO, a feature I really like. Good when you get a shot like number one, where sun and shade are in play.

As for the red panda. Yep, there is a whole group dedicated to it on flickr. Probably one of the most photographed animals in the world.

Number 1 and 6 for me. The first one looks like the little bugger is getting scanned by the powers above

Some amazing colours in there. I see Bristol Zoo have pushed the bopat out this year with the addition of starlings and gulls

Re: Bristol Zoo - 16/2/2008.

Really like the light in the last two.
Last one has great dof producing that nice out of focus frame and the lead in diagonals are superb. The simple colour scheme works really well too like this.

Yeah, first time I have seen him out, but personally I dont think he is well.

he kept walking the same route over and over. Reminded me of the polar bears that shake their heads when depressed.

Cant be much fun stuck in zoo really....

I remember that - it was horrible

Nice shots, all very sharp. Were you using f8-11 for these, or is that lens just mega sharp from the get go?
