Re: HDR Crazy!

A really nice set there mate. Sometimes HDR can look awful but not in this case. They are all subtly done. I especially like #1, 3, 5 and 6.

Re: HDR Crazy!

Not a big fan of HDR - but the first two are top drawer. I've been known to photograph a bench or two in my time, and these are great.

I also like the colour boat shot - fantastic sky.

1, 3 and 4 I really like...and thats saying something as I hate HDR usually but these have a nice style to them and don't look as cartoon like as HDR usually does.

very, very good. Like a lot here I don't go for HDR but these are quite subtle and jump out of the screen.

great stuff.

Re: HDR Crazy!

Cracking set rizingstar
Superb control over the processing too, especially the haloing that HDR normally produces.

Iike the first two. In fact I really really like the second shot. Your processing on it has really lifted it I suspect. Nice!

Re: HDR Crazy!

I really like them - Yes HDR can have an artificial look but they just look so punchy and different compared to standard photos. A very nice alternative technique in tricky lighting.

How did you freeze the sea on the last one ?

Have you applied HDR to a single frame rather than to three bracketed shots ?

All from a single RAW, with exposures set at -2,0,2+ then I've found to use the 3 E.V setting in photomatix instead of 2, then i always tend to keep the white point and black point high in tonemapping, along with the light smoothing and strength setting always at the top end or near, all the others i just keep on 0, then it's a case of curves, contrast and a plug-in I've found in CS3 which gives me any amount of filters and tones etc and i just experiment on the finished HDR with these, that shot of the sea was 1/25 shutter speed Av 9

I like them all, they are brill. I'm HDR crazy too, and very rarely take anything else these days. By the way have you downloaded the latest Photomatix Pro 3 beta 11. It is a vast improvement on 2.5. Mike

Nice selection

If you don't mind me asking, at what stage in your PP process do you do the B&W conversion? Before, or after HDR'ing?

Re: HDR Crazy!

Hi ya

Very nice set

Like the tone of B&W you have used in the first three, especially Old Boats

Overall you haven't overdone it with the HDR. HDR is something I have started to use more and more, but still learning what each setting does.

Cheers Holo
