Once again guys, need advise here

Thinking about getting another lens, would like to take pics of planes, moon, seagulls (in the middle of the sea/water), etc

So should i get 70-300mm vr or sell my 18-135mm and just get 18-200mm vr? I like the idea of 18-200mm as i don't have to change lens all the time and the 'VR' as well , but is 200mm zoom enough to take shots of planes, moon, etc?

Based on the requirements you list...70-300VR, not a shadow of a doubt!

Here's the moon (taken during the eclipse last year), with the 18-200VR at 200mm.

Can anyone help me out here with an uncropped 300mm for comparison?

Here a pic of a couple of seagulls this was taken at 300mm using the 70-300mm VR. I do feel you need at least 300mm for wildlife ideally. As you already have the 18-135mm I think the 70-300mm VR is the more obvious upgrade and it's cheaper than the 18-200mm VR :

I would say the 18-135 and 70-300 VR combo is a better alround package than the 18-200VR single lens. I have the 18-135 lens and it is a fantastic walkabout lens with enough reach for most scenarios. The 70-300 lets you do the wildlife stuff and take better pics of planes and the moon etc.

plus the 70-300VR will be a better quality lens than the compromise 18-200

I do agree that you have quite a lot of overlap, but I quite like that - means you don't have to swap lenses too often.

I think it's best to go with the 70-300mm, too.

Yeah, i checked them as well, what about the warranty? As i can get the UK one for £319.

Be very wary of the HK E-bay sellers as you aften get nailed for taxes when the goods get delivered.

Never used the 300mm lens, but I have the 18-200 and its fab. It suffers from lens creep but I think the longer 300 does too. The 18-200 is extremely versatile and IMHO the best choice for a huge variety of shots without having to carry another lens around with you.

Great price there plus they are throwing in a free Hoya HMC UV filter & extending the warranty to 18 months
