Canon Remote Trigger Advice

Hi Folks,
I would like to get hold of a Canon remote trigger so that I can control my 580ex flash remotely. Now do I buy the Canon remote trigger for £130, or do I spend an additional £30 and get another flash that I can use as a master/ trigger and use the 580ex as the slave. It sounds like a no brainer to me, but what do you guys think ???

Cheers

Re: Canon Remote Trigger Advice

I would buy another flashgun or even look at RF triggers. IR triggers can be difficult to use in some situations and it's worth looking into before you commit your cash.

Re: Canon Remote Trigger Advice

cheers h4rri.

i just need to confirm whether the 430ex can be used as the master with the 580ex as the slave, or does it really matter ?

the main usage will be form indoor photography only in this setup.

Re: Canon Remote Trigger Advice

Ah, no it would be the other way round, the 430EX is the slave and the 580EX is the master. Shouldn't matter too much, you can also configure ratio's and delays etc in the two. You can have the 580EX not fire and just act as the trigger too IIRC.
