1st Pics with Sony Alpha A100

Hi all and hope you all had a nice xmas?

Got a new Sony Alpha A100 yesterday at short notice and today had all of 40 mins in which to try it out before I had to go do some work.....

Nice camera with logical control layout (I didn't read the manual) and seemed to pick up easily enough......Out for 40ish mins in the good ould scottish rain cold and wind and was freezing but, here are 4 I had taken and have re-edited a little. Like I say 1st try so....

Little cottage slap bang in the middle of the park a few yads from Scottish paliment.... Changed it to B&W and resized. Sky was totally blown... but!

Flags outside the Scottish parliment......

Last 2 are of a lone policeman standing within the the Building of the Scottish parliment......and boy he was a real happy chappy.......

Same as 3 but B&W.....

I like this camera........and for a 1st try I was pleased considering the crappy weather too.

Anyhoooo

Cant understand why that parliament building cost so much. The wood panelling has warped already!

The flag shot is lovely & sharp & colourful. Looks like you'll have fun with this camera.

Agree with you about Scottish Parliament - it's horrific. Try shooting it at night with a strong subject to draw attention away from it:

or focus on the Dynamic Earth Center nearby:

If you ever need a shiny lens rental service in Edinburgh, you know who to call :E

The DoF button is under the lens mounting on the RH side (front) of the camera body (small round black button). When adjusting your aperture, press it and it will show you what is/isn't in focus. Adjust aperture till you get what you want in/out of focus and hey presto!

Works well at night with neon lights etc.
